Privacy
Draft. This page describes how the app is built today. Have it reviewed before you publish it as Mentru’s App Store privacy policy, and confirm the wording matches your App Store privacy nutrition labels.
The short version
Mentru holds your goal, your plan and the reasons you gave when something slipped. That is personal, and it is treated that way. Your Screen Time never leaves your iPhone. Nothing is sold, and nothing is used for advertising.
What Mentru stores about you
- Your account. You sign in with Google. Mentru receives your account identifier, name and email address from that sign-in.
- Your profile. The name you give, your age if you enter one, your language and your time zone.
- Your plans. Goals, milestones, daily rituals, tracking periods, streaks and completion history.
- Your reflections. The reason you gave on an accountability call when something was blocked, delayed or missed, and the recovery step you agreed.
- Your preferences. Mentor voice, check-in times, whether the daily call is on and at what time.
- Notification tokens. The Apple push and VoIP tokens needed to deliver check-ins and the daily call.
This is stored in Mentru’s Firebase project, scoped to your account, so your plan restores when you sign in on another iPhone.
Your conversations
What you say and type to Mentru is sent to Mentru’s relay and on to Microsoft Azure OpenAI, which generates the mentor’s replies. Voice sessions stream audio for the length of the call. Your microphone is used only while a voice session is running, and iOS shows its own indicator whenever it is live.
Screen Time stays on your iPhone
The optional 8pm reflection uses Apple’s Screen Time framework. Apple keeps app names and usage totals private by design: your selection of apps and categories is stored locally on your device, and Mentru is told only that a one-hour threshold was crossed before 8pm. Mentru never receives your Screen Time history, and never sends it anywhere.
Notifications
Check-ins and the daily call are delivered as push notifications. A notification preview may include your plan’s title, so it can appear on your lock screen. You can turn check-ins and the call off in the app at any time, and iOS notification permission remains yours to withdraw in Settings.
The caller contact card
If you choose to save Mentru’s prefilled contact card, iPhone can show Mentru’s logo full-screen when it calls. This is optional, it is stored in your own Contacts, and it gives Mentru no access to your contacts.
Who else is involved
- Google — sign-in, and Firebase for account data and storage.
- Apple — push and VoIP notification delivery, and CallKit for the call screen.
- Microsoft Azure OpenAI — generating the mentor’s replies from your conversation.
Mentru does not sell your data and does not use it for advertising.
Deleting your data
